Here at Wolverhampton Glass, we install Residence Collection windows. Manufactured from low maintenance uPVC, they are designed to resemble traditional timber windows, typified by window sashes that sit flush with the window frames. For this reason, they are often referred to as timber effect, or timber alternative, windows.

Within our collection, we offer Residence 9 and Residence 7 windows, both of which are ultra-secure, and incredibly stylish. However, with plenty of differences between them, it can be hard to decide which is right for you. So, we thought we would take a closer look at them both to help you decide.
Residence 9 windows
With a design that is based on 19th-century timber windows, Residence 9 are the perfect fit for period homes and properties that are traditional in style. Their other features include:
- Sitting in the uPVC profiles of Residence 9 windows are 9 heat-trapping chambers. Working with either double or triple glazing, depending on your preferences, they can achieve truly outstanding energy ratings of A++. For creating warmer homes and reducing energy bills, they are some of the best available.
- Choose from 23 standard colour options, including Cotswold Green, Painswick, Cream, and Irish Oak. You can also have different colours for the internal and external framing.
- Their authentic period features include a moulded weatherbar, which is a raised, horizontal bar that sits at the bottom of a window; butted window joints, which are present where the window frames meet one another and are barely visible, so they resemble traditional timber window joinery methods; monkey tail handles and peg stays; working and dummy butt window hinges.
- If you live in a conservation area, you might be interested to hear that they are regularly approved for use here because of their historical designs.
- They have equal 100mm sightlines (the width of the frames), creating a neat, slender appearance that looks highly attractive.

Residence 7 windows
Residence 7 windows have slimmer frames than their Residence 9 counterparts. Generally, they are better suited to modern properties too. In addition to this, you can expect:
- Choose from 20 standard colourways such as Eclectic Grey, Vintage Cream and Rosewood, adapting their appearance to suit your property. The dual colour option is also available.
- With 7 heat-trapping chambers sitting in their profiles, keeping homes warm and energy bills low is easy for Residence 7 windows. They can also achieve extremely impressive A++ energy ratings.
- The combination of slender 75mm frames with flush window sashes, inside and out, results in a beautifully chic, contemporary appearance. However, they are available with modern or traditional window joints and five different glazing beads, so they can be adapted to suit more traditional homes too.
- They are also available with a range of handles and stays, so you can alter the look of Residence 7 windows further. Handles and stays come in 9 different colours too.
