What’s the difference between a conservatory and an orangery?

Beautifully bridging the gap between fully glazed conservatories and full-blown extension spaces, the most notable differences lie in its signature brick supporting walls and flat roof with illuminating glazed roof lantern.

What makes our orangery installations stand out as a quality product is their modern steel base construction. Our orangeries are built using pad foundations, once the steel frame base is in place, the solid brick base and sturdy modular walls can be constructed in a matter of hours. Even better, they can be sited anywhere, even on sloping sites. Considerably cutting down costs, time, waste, and disruption, your new orangery will be ready to enjoy in just a few days with Wolverhampton Glass.

Why is an orangery so called?

Orangeries got their name because they were first built to give fruiting plants a warmer room with natural light. This means you could put your orange trees in an orangery and increase the amount of fruit you got and reduced the chance of not getting fruit.

Is an orangery cheaper than an extension?

Normally an orangery is cheaper than an extension. This is because an orangery has a large amount of glass in its construction which is cheaper and the construction is quicker than a normal extension which reduces labour costs.

More About Us

Had new Windows, and doors fitted by Sam & Dean, they were very professional, and did an excellent job, did exactly what they said they would do.

Glyn Williams

With the professional help of Wolverhampton Glass staff we decided to replace our patio door with an updated model seen in their showroom. The surveyor arrived on time and approved the installation. We were kept in contact throughout the process. Fitting date and time were arranged. Fitters, Ashley and Dave arrived at the appointed time, did a brilliant job and left everywhere clean and tidy.

D Lees

From start to finish the entire team at Wolverhampton Glass have been very helpful, reliable and conducted work to a very high standard. New lean to warm roof looks great compared to old Edwardian styled conservatory. The teams on the job were all polite, clean and made sure the work was completed in stated time frame. The third party contractors (plasterer, electricians) also very good.
